No. UT: Jamboree with Sunrise at Sunset Peak ~ Age 50+

IT’S a JAMBOREE: a large festive gathering!! We’ll do a potluck happy hour/dinner at Albion Basin Campground, s’mores around the campfire and a good old fashioned “sleep over”. This is car camping at its finest. Then, before sunrise (AKA: 7:12AM), anyone who wants to can join in a hike up to Sunset Peak to greet the day.

We’ll be eating, hiking and hanging out starting Sunday and the fun won’t stop until Monday! Join us for as much or as little of the time as you’d like. Parking on the site is limited BUT parking is free at Alta. There is a lot right outside the campground with a fee to drive up to it on the Summer Road; so we’ll be organizing transportation.

TRAIL RATING: Hard (1,165 feet of elevation gain)

LENGTH: 3.5 miles RT

CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from over50.whs@gmail.com about 5-7 days before the event for coordination.

GEAR:

• The Ten Essentials
• Proper clothing / layers for weather & conditions
• Proper footwear
• Head Net and Insect Repellent (the bugs can be bad this time of year)
• Water and trail snacks
• Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
• Hiking poles (optional but recommended)

Little Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed areas so please leave your four-legged friends at home for this one!
