Join WHS Ambassador Cynthia on an after work stargaze at Spruces Campground!

In the winter Spruces Campground becomes a winter wonder land ready for stargazing and snowshoeing. There’s even a log cabin for hanging out.

If you registered for our 2024 Wine Hiking Society Hiking Challenge this hike qualifies as a sunset hike, winter hike and/or a WHS day hike event. Want to join the challenge? Sign up here!

TRAIL RATING: Easy/Moderate (100 feet of elevation gain)

LENGTH: 5 miles RT

CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from over50.whs@gmail.com about 5-7 days before the event for coordination.

GEAR:

• The Ten Essentials
• Proper clothing / layers for winter weather & conditions
• Proper footwear
• Snowshoes
• Water and trail snacks
• Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
• Hiking poles (optional but recommended)

Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed area and dogs are not allowed. Please leave your four legged friends at home.

Happy Hour Beverage (recommended for event): Chili Cinnamon Bourbon Hot Toddy.
