Rachel Connett

Born and raised in Davis County, Utah, Rachel now lives in Bountiful with her husband and their two teenage boys. She’s a co-manager for a local tech company, helping businesses find the right equipment and software for their needs. On the side, she uses her accounting degree to provide bookkeeping for a local nonprofit.

Rachel is passionate about the outdoors, enjoying everything from hiking and camping to fishing and paddleboarding. She started hiking with her parents when her boys were little and now loves to bring her retired dad along on her adventures, especially when it means taking the “trail less traveled.”

The mountains bring Rachel a sense of calm and groundedness. She especially loves the challenge of hiking, always feeling a sense of accomplishment with each trek, no matter the distance. Rachel is known for grabbing a few pine needles to smell along the way—she recently discovered the butterscotch scent of the Ponderosa Pine, which has sparked her curiosity to explore even more of nature’s unique aromas!

Rachel joined the Women’s Wine Hiking Society after spotting a decal on a car, knowing it was the perfect fit for her love of the outdoors and wine. She loves meeting new people in the group, each bringing their unique backgrounds and a shared passion for adventure.

Rachel’s Favorite Hike: “My first backpacking adventure was in the Wind Rivers Range, going to Seneca Lake and Island Lake. It’s a long, hard hike, but I’m still dreaming about it! I loved every single step of those 28 difficult miles, and I can’t wait to go back and see more! I also love the Panorama Trail in Kodachrome Basin. I might’ve taken smaller steps on that trail simply to prolong it! For hiking close to home, my go-to is North Canyon in Bountiful because it’s pretty, shady, and rarely busy.”

Rachel’s Favorite Drink: “I appreciate red wines most of all! I like to try different ones so I’m not stuck on one particular kind, but any 19 Crimes are always a win. I also enjoy lavender and will always order a cocktail or a coffee if available with this flavor!”

Rachel’s Favorite Hiking / Backpacking Gear: “Since I recently discovered how much I love sleeping outdoors, I love my Big Agnes sleeping bag! It’s bright orange and keeps me warm and cozy!”
