Originally from Southern Illinois (yes, the hiking is amazing), Karen moved to Texas at 19, met her husband shortly after, and just celebrated 43 years of marriage—true trail partners for life!
She’s a passionate reader, loves to make baby quilts, and has big hiking dreams: the Appalachian Trail and someday, Europe. Karen’s love for the outdoors began early, with monthly camping trips as a kid and unforgettable hikes near family in Albuquerque and Denver.
These days, she and her husband make yearly trips to Colorado for mountain trails and mineral baths. For Karen, hiking is like breathing—it’s peace, joy, and the magic of Forest Bathing. She loves the people she meets on the trail, both old friends and new.
