About This Event

Join Cindy and Angelique, your WWHS admins, for an epic four-day adventure in the Sawtooth Wilderness of Idaho.

Our point-to-point route will take us past nine plus (9+) lakes and over three (3) mountain passes.

We’ll set up a shuttle at the trailheads and then car camp near our starting point, so we can hit the trail nice and early on day one of our backpack. If you’ve never been to the Sawtooths, trust us when we say, “You’ll be wowed at every turn!”

TRAIL RATING: Hard (approx. 4,000 ft elevation gain)

LENGTH: 21~ miles RT

ALLTRAILS LINK: Our exact route is not on AllTrails. We’ll start on Hell Roaring Trail, merge with the Alice Lake/Red Fish Lake Trail, and then exit on the Pettit Creek Trail.

CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from team@winehikingsociety.com a few weeks before the event for coordination. Please plan on leaving the Salt Lake Area at 9 AM, the morning of the event.

Backpacking experience is required.

Pricing is based on each attendee’s ability to be self-sufficient while backpacking. Below are requirements to attend this backpacking trip.

Basic Requirements to Attend: 

• Need little to no direction on the following:
  • How to pack you backpack
  • What gear is required
  • Clothing and footwear needed
  • Basic trail finding
  • Food / menu planning
  • Leave No Trace Principles

WHS backpacking trips rated as HARD also have the following requirements:

• Ability to hike 10+ miles per day with a 30+ pound backpack
• Average backpacking pace: 40-minute miles
• Have been backpacking two (2) or more times when you did not rely on someone else for direction on the “Basic” requirements

Four-legged friends are welcome but must be kept on leash and be friendly around both humans and other dogs.
