About This Event
Lace up your boots and pack a cold beer—it’s time to say goodbye to the summer break in style! Join SLC Ambassador Cherie for a saunter through the stunning alpine lakes behind Brighton. This route is considered challenging, so come prepared with extra snacks, plenty of water, and a good attitude.
We’ll take our time and stop at each lake along the way to soak in the views, catch our breath, and enjoy the late-summer vibes.

TRAIL RATING: Hard (1,807 ft of gain) – To join this hard hike, you should be able to average 40-minute miles. While we don’t leave anyone behind, it is important to know your capabilities. That way, you do not put yourself or anyone else in danger. If this hike isn’t for you, no worries! We have lots of awesome hikes that are rated easy and moderate. Search for one here.
LENGTH: 7 miles RT

- Proper clothing / layers for weather and hiking conditions

- Water and trail snacks
- Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
- Hiking poles (optional but strongly recommended)
Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed area and dogs are not allowed. Please leave your four-legged friends at home for this one!
