About This Event
After a full season of fabulous hikes, the 50+ crew will feel like they’re soaring up this stunning trail! This lightly traveled path meanders alongside a picturesque creek in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
The rewards are plentiful: discover a little-known alpine lake, connect with a group of adventurous women, and, of course, savor a spectacular day in a beautiful canyon.
TRAIL RATING: Hard (2,109 feet of elevation gain) – To join this hard hike, you should be able to average 40-minute miles. While we don’t leave anyone behind, it is important to know your capabilities. That way, you do not put yourself or anyone else in danger. If this hike isn’t for you, no worries! We have lots of awesome hikes that are rated easy and moderate. Search for one here.
LENGTH: 4.5 miles RT
CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from over50.whs@gmail.com about 5-7 days before the event for coordination.

- The Ten Essentials
- Proper clothing / layers for weather & conditions
- Proper footwear
- Water and trail snacks
- Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
- Hiking poles (optional but recommended)
Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed areas so please leave your four-legged friends at home for this one!
