About This Event
Join ambassador Alison Bond and co-founder Angelique Fish for our 2nd on-trail book club event of 2025! For this event, we’ll read the book If I live Until Morning: A True Story of Adventure, Tragedy and Transformation by Jean Muenchrath. Then, on July 15, we’ll do a short hike to Lake Mary. Once there, we’ll set up our chairs for our book club discussion.
If I Live Until Morning is the gripping true story of Jean Muenchrath, whose backcountry skiing trip along California’s John Muir Trail turns into a harrowing fight for survival after a catastrophic accident on Mount Whitney. Severely injured and alone in the Sierra Nevada, she endures a five-day struggle to stay alive—an experience that marks the beginning of a decades-long journey through pain, healing, and self-discovery. From battling physical and emotional trauma to finding peace through global travel and Tibetan Buddhist teachings, Jean’s memoir is a testament to resilience, transformation, and the enduring search for meaning.
