About This Event

The 50+ crew is headed to the beautiful Desolation Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon. This lake is surrounded by aspens that should be in their full fall glory.

We’ll find a spot on the shore to sip a big bold red surrounded by a stunning landscape. Let’s also bring some nibbles to share. Nothing like spending a colorful fall day outside with friendly folks.

TRAIL RATING: Moderate (1,978 feet of elevation gain)

LENGTH: 7.8 miles RT

CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from [email protected] about 5-7 days before the event for coordination.

• Proper clothing / layers for weather & conditions
• Proper footwear
• Water and trail snacks
• Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
• Hiking poles (optional but recommended)

Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed areas so please leave your four-legged friends at home for this one!
