About This Event
Wake up early and get your weekend started with one of the Valley’s most famous summer hikes!
We will carpool into the canyon, where we’ll tackle this challenging hike and toast our efforts with Bellinis at the lake.
Afterwards, let’s grab some juicy burgers at Hog Wallow—because we all know post‑hike burgers are the best!
TRAIL RATING: Hard (2,726 feet of elevation gain) – To join this hard hike, you should be able to average 40-minute miles. While we don’t leave anyone behind, it is important to know your capabilities. That way, you do not put yourself or anyone else in danger. If this hike isn’t for you, no worries! We have lots of awesome hikes that are rated easy and moderate. Search for one here.
LENGTH: 6.5 miles RT
CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from slcounty.whs@gmail.com about 5-7 days before the event for coordination. This email will include a link to join a private WhatsApp chat for carpool coordination and last-minute event updates.

- The Ten Essentials
- Proper clothing / layers for weather and hiking conditions
- Proper footwear-hiking shoes/boots
- Warm layers
- Rain Jacket
- Hiking Poles
- Water and trail snacks (LOTS of water)
- Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
