About This Event
Khyv Peak (formally called Squaw Peak) is a cool spring time hike, and great warm up for the bigger peaks come summer. The trail passes through tall canyon walls and then climbs up through groves of trees and meadows. The view from the top is one of the best in Utah County- taking in all of Utah lake to the west and gorgeous views of the mountains behind.
This is a challenging hike with a solid amount of climbing but we will cheers at the top to the start of warmer weather to come.
TRAIL RATING: Hard (2,775 feet of elevation gain) – To join this hard hike, you should be able to average 30-minute miles. While we don’t leave anyone behind, it is important to know your capabilities. That way, you do not put yourself or anyone else in danger. If this hike isn’t for you, no worries! We have lots of awesome hikes that are rated easy and moderate. Search for one here.
LENGTH: 7.3 miles RT
CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from [email protected] about 5-7 days before the event for coordination.

- The Ten Essentials
- Proper clothing / layers for winter hiking conditions
- Proper footwear
- Water and trail snacks
- Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
- Hiking poles (optional but recommended)
Four-legged friends are welcome on this hike.
