About This Event

Silver Lake is rumored to rival Lake Blanche in beauty, and the age 50+ crew is going to hike up and unveil the truth! Brace yourself for a stunning mountain lake surrounded by cliffs on one side and a panoramic valley view on the other, complete with enough seasonal wildflowers to delight any aspiring naturalist.

A place this fabulous and serene demands a classic Chablis to accompany our adventure. Fingers crossed that our wine indulgence won’t cloud our judgment. We’ll coordinate our accoutrements accordingly—this promises to be an unforgettable experience!

TRAIL RATING: Moderate (1,423 feet of elevation gain)

LENGTH: 4.5 miles RT

CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from over50.whs@gmail.com about 5-7 days before the event for coordination.

• Proper clothing / layers for late spring weather & conditions
• Proper footwear
• Swimsuit and water shoes if you want to swim in the lake
• Micro-spikes (depending on conditions)
• Water and trail snacks
• Something lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)
• Hiking poles (optional but recommended)
