About This Event
Join ambassador Alison Bond and co-founder Angelique Fish for our 1st on-trail book club event of 2025! For this event, we’ll read the book Enough: Climbing Toward a True Self on Mount Everest by Melissa Arnot Reid. Then, on July 15, we’ll do a short hike to a view of the Salt Lake valley. Once there, we’ll set up our chairs for our book club discussion.
Enough is a powerful memoir by elite mountaineer Melissa Arnot Reid, chronicling her relentless pursuit to become the first American woman to summit Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen—and the emotional fallout when she failed just short of the peak. Raised in a turbulent home, Reid found refuge in extreme mountaineering, achieving incredible physical feats while privately grappling with self-worth, family estrangement, and destructive relationship patterns. As the mountains grew more perilous and personal losses mounted, she was forced to confront her inner turmoil. In the spirit of Wild, this is a raw, honest story about resilience, grief, and the lifelong climb toward self-acceptance.
