AZ Phx: Palomas & Peaks: A San Tan Women’s Hike + Sip

About This Event

We’ll start the hike with a gradual climb up the Dynamite Trail—great for warming up in the cool morning air and enjoying early views of the valley. Near the top, we’ll take a short break to hydrate, have a snack, and connect.

Then we’ll continue the loop through the San Tan range, crossing over the saddle where some of the best views of the day are waiting. Before heading back down to the trailhead, we’ll stop at a scenic spot for a relaxed social break—think open desert, saguaros, and space to stretch out and enjoy a prickly pear paloma.

The full route is about 4.6 miles with wide trails, one good climb, and lots of great scenery. It’s a laid-back hike with room for good conversation and a little time outdoors.

TRAIL RATING: Moderate (793 feet of elevation gain)

LENGTH: 4.6 miles RT

CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from [email protected] about 5-7 days before the event for coordination. Goldmine Trailhead requires a Maricopa Regional Parks Pass or a $7/car entry fee. (Carpooling encouraged.)

GEAR:

• The Ten Essentials
• Proper clothing / layers for cool morning temps and warm daytime temps
• Good hiking or trail-running shoes as parts of the trail are quite rocky
• Water (at least 2 liters or ~64 ounces) and trail snacks
• Something lightweight to sit on during social hour (i.e., a backpacking chair, rain jacket, plastic bag, etc.)

Your four-legged friends are welcome on this hike but must be leashed and friendly towards other dogs and humans.
