You’ve got the presents wrapped and under the tree. But, you’re struggling to fill the stocking. Swap the generic stocking stuffers for these 5 items we wine hikers love.
1. Cindy Vance: Wine Nester
What vessel do you use to drink wine from when you’re on the trail? You don’t want to be basic and drink your wine out of a plastic cup or mug.
No, you want to feel sophisticated, like the true badass you are. Because you are drinking wine . . . on a hike!
Next time you’re heading out on a hike, bring one of these wine nesters for red wine or white wine from GSI Outdoors. They come in twos, so you can split the set with a fellow wino.
2. Angelique: Wine Carafe
What’s the best way to take wine with you on the trail? No, we don’t recommend putting it in an empty water bottle. (That won’t be enough wine!).
So what then? Bring the whole bottle?
Rather than carrying a heavy glass bottle, use a soft-sided wine carafe like this one from GSI Outdoors.
The bota bag from GSI Outdoors only weighs .08 pounds but holds a whole bottle of wine. It is designed so you can hit the trail with your wine without the glass and weight.
3. Erin: Wine Hiking Society Sticker
A sticker? Yes, a sticker! Ambassador Erin loves her sticker because it gives her a chance to talk to other people on the trail. When people see the name Wine Hiking Society, they always have a lot of questions!
How do you get a sticker? Our ambassadors give out free stickers on every hike. Check out our event calendar to sign up for a hike.
Already have a sticker? Looking for other swag? Snag one of our Wine Hiking Society magnets or patches.
4. Cindy: Toe & Body Warmers
Baby, it’s cold outside. But, you can stay warm with toe warmers and body warmers by HotHands!
Both the toe warmers and body warmers have adhesive backs so they stay in place. The toe warmers come in pairs and stick and stay perfectly on the bottom of your socks. (Don’t put them directly on your skin!) They will keep your toes warm for 8 hours!
The body warmers can be stuck anywhere you are cold, like your chest, lower back, or as co-founder Cindy recommends, your butt cheeks. These warmers last an impressive 12 hours.
The toe and body warmers are perfect for cold nights in the backcountry . . . or when you’re hanging out sipping mulled wine on a wine hike.
5. Angelique: Fozzil Snapfold Bowlz
We wine hikers don’t just drink wine. We also like to eat! Most of our hikes include a potluck. And there’s never a shortage of food (or wine, for that matter).
Rather than using disposable plates, we always recommend wine hikers bring their own plate to reduce waste. What kind of plate works best for hiking? Fozzil Snapfold Bowlz!
The Fozzil Snapfold Bowl can be used as a plate. You’re probably wondering, is it a bowl or a plate? It can be both! It starts as a plate but can snap together to form a bowl. These bowls (or plates?) are convenient, durable alternative to paper plates that just end up in the trash.
What stocking stuffers would you add to this list? What else would a wine hiker love in their stocking?
