SUMMARY:*$200 OFF SALE* Beginner Backpacking Trip to Canyonlands: October 2024
DESCRIPTION:  \nWe get it. \nYou’ve seen pictures of people backpacking in beautiful\, remote places and have wanted to try it yourself but . . . \nYou don’t know where to start. How do you know where to go? What to pack? What to eat? How to stay safe? \nYou don’t have the gear. Gear is expensive! Besides\, what all do you need to bring? How do you know which gear to buy? \nYou have only backpacked once or have only gone with other people and lack the confidence or experience to do it again. Maybe you went with your boyfriend / husband / dad / brother and they took care of everything. \n\nYou see women getting into the backcountry with other women\, and you see how strong and empowered they look and you want to feel that way too. \nWe get it because we’ve been there too. \nThat’s why we’ve created this guided beginner backpacking trip for women. \n\n\nAbout This Event\n  \n \n  \nThere’s something so empowering about heading into the backcountry as a woman with only the gear on your back and other women beside you. However\, we know firsthand how intimidating it can be for women to get into backpacking. \nTherefore\, we invite you to experience this women-only backpacking trip in a safe\, supportive space with other beginners like YOU. \nJoin Angelique Fish and Cindy Vance for an unforgettable weekend in the remote\, pristine backcountry of Canyonlands National Park. \nI love it! Show me the price!\n12 \nWHAT THE COST OF THIS BEGINNER BACKPACKING TRIP INCLUDES:\n12 \n\nAccommodations at a condo in Moab for 2 nights (Thursday and Sunday)\nAll meals at the condo: dinner Thursday night\, continental breakfast Friday morning\, lunch and dinner Sunday\, and a continental breakfast Monday morning\n3 days\, 2 nights at beautiful backcountry campsites hidden among Utah juniper trees and red sandstone pinnacles with expansive views of spectacular sunsets and star-lit skies\nAll permits required by the National Park Service\nA ratio of 1 backpacking guide to every 5 women\nHigh-quality gear to use for the weekend\, including\n\nbackpacking tent (shared with another person)\nbackpack\nsleeping bag\nsleeping pad\nwater bladder\nwater reservoir\ncookstove\nbackpacking chair\nand more\n\n\n\n\nExclusive access to our backpacking portal with videos\, instructions\, and guides to help you prepare\nIn-person hands-on training on how to pack your backpack on Friday night after dinner\nA packing list to make sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable and safe weekend\nSix-week supplemental training guide with videos to help you physically prepare for backpacking\nA special food menu tailored to backpacking in the desert to take the guesswork out of what to eat in the Canyonlands backcountry\nBackcountry education on Leave No Trace Principles\, Canyonlands National Park regulations and history\, and Don’t Bust the Crust\nEmergency gear including two group first aid kits\, GPS locator / SOS device\, and two experienced backpacking guides who are both certified in wilderness first-aid and CPR\nPrivate WhatsApp group to connect you to the other participants\, coordinate event details\, and prepare you for an amazing weekend full of sisterhood\, free from the noise of every day life\nLaminated reusable packing list for your future adventures\nSwag bag full of backpacking goodies for you to use on future backpacking adventures\n\n  \n                        \n  \n\n\n\n\nWHAT THE COST OF THIS BEGINNER BACKPACKING TRIP DOES NOT INCLUDE:\n12 \n\nTransportation to / from Moab and Canyonlands National Park (We will help everyone arrange carpooling in our WhatsApp group)\nNational Park entrance fee (We will help everyone coordinate Park passes)\nAlcohol\, food for backpacking\, clothing\, and other miscellaneous backpacking items\n\nHell yes! Tell me more!\n  \n\n\n\n\n 12 \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n12\nPLEASE NOTE: \nWe have a strict cancellation policy. This is because of a few reasons. First\, we split gear and count on having an even number of attendees so that gear (and\, therefore\, weight) can be evenly distributed. Second\, we spend countless hours getting each attendee prepared for the trip. Finding a replacement and getting them up to speed takes a lot of time and work on our part. \nReservations are non-transferable. Cancellations prior to July 1\, 2024\, will be eligible for a full refund minus a $75 convenience fee. Cancellations prior to July 16\, 2024\, will be eligible for a 50% refund minus a $75 convenience fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations after July 15\, 2024. NO EXCEPTIONS. \nBecause of our strict cancellation policy\, we STRONGLY recommend purchasing travel insurance. Here is one option: https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/. (We do not work directly with this company. It is up to the attendees to ensure the policy provides the coverage needed / wanted.) \n

SUMMARY:NoUT: 2nd Annual Free VIP-only WHS Games
DESCRIPTION:About This Event\nVIPs\, do you volunteer as tribute for our 2nd annual WHS Games?? WHS Games is a fun event that combines the thrill of hiking with the excitement of solving challenging puzzles and completing fun tasks. You’ll be divided into teams before embarking on a scenic journey through nature\, where you’ll encounter various checkpoints strategically placed along the hiking trail. \n  \n \n  \nWhat to Expect\nStarting at Brighton Ski Resort\, we’ll begin this event with a warm welcome and an introduction to the rules and objectives. Teams will receive a set of challenges that they must complete while they hike this 4.2-mile loop. \nAs you venture deeper into the wilderness\, you’ll encounter interactive puzzle stations nestled within the natural surroundings. These stations require teamwork\, problem-solving skills\, and physical agility to overcome. From deciphering cryptic riddles to unlocking hidden compartments\, each challenge presents an opportunity for the teams to demonstrate their resourcefulness and bond together. \nAlong the trail\, you’ll be rewarded not only with stunning vistas and fresh air but also with points for successful puzzle completion. As the event reaches its climax\, teams will converge at the final checkpoint to celebrate their accomplishments (with wine\, of course!). The highest scoring team will win some WHS swag! \nSo\, lace up your hiking boots\, grab some wine\, and prepare for an unforgettable journey where nature and puzzles intertwine in the captivating experience of the WHS Games! \n  \nTRAIL RATING: Moderate (1007 ft elevation gain) \nLENGTH: 3.5 miles RT \nCARPOOLING: Watch for an email from admin@winehikingsociety.com about 5-7 days before the event for coordination. \nALLTRAILS LINK: WHS Games Route \nGEAR: \n\nThe Ten Essentials\nProper clothing / layers for summer hiking conditions\nProper footwear\nWater and trail snacks\nSomething lightweight to sit on while we stop to eat and drink (i.e.\, a backpacking chair\, rain jacket\, plastic bag\, etc.)\nHiking poles (optional but recommended)\n\nSince Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed\, four-legged friends must stay home. \nALCOHOL NOT INCLUDED \n  \n
