AZ Tuc: Merry Maiden Pools Ornament Exchange via Ventana Trail

About This Event

Get into the Christmas spirit with a challenging hike full of holiday cheer! Wear an ugly Christmas t-shirt (because ugly sweaters will be too hot in Tucson) and bring a fun ornament for a white elephant-style exchange. The ornament can be one you already have that you’re happy to part with or a new one. The choice is yours!

This steep and intense hike pays off with incredible views of Tucson. A small bit of scrambling, walking through soft sand and thin trails – make sure to pack your courage and determination.

When we get to the top, we will stop to relax, enjoy the views, and toast to our success before heading to the parking lot for our ornament exchange.

Parking is in the employee lot of Lowe’s Ventana Canyon Resort. Take some time out in this busy month of December to push yourself and then sit back and just enjoy the views and a new Christmas ornament with your new wine hiking friends.

TRAIL RATING: Hard (1,318 feet of elevation gain) – To join this hard hike, you should be able to average 40-minute miles. While we don’t leave anyone behind, it is important to know your capabilities. That way, you do not put yourself or anyone else in danger. If this hike isn’t for you, no worries! We have lots of awesome hikes that are rated easy and moderate. Search for one here.

LENGTH: 5.4 miles RT

CARPOOLING: Watch for an email from arizona.whs@gmail.com about 5-7 days before the event for coordination. This email will include a link to join a private WhatsApp chat for carpool coordination and last-minute event updates.
